Hi, my name is Pericles, the writer of this blog “Buenos Aires Real Estate Search”. I´m of Greek-Cypriot heritage but spent my formative years growing up in Australia.

I first came to Buenos Aires in 1983, just after the fall of the last military regime here. At that time Raul Alfonsin was in power, there was hyper-inflation, and a melancholic feel, but I was instantly smitten with the gorgeous architecture, amazing cafe culture, and the nightlife that seemed to never end.

After I left I kept thinking about Buenos Aires and always wanted to return as soon as I could. I visited nine times before 2003, always reluctant to leave this city that captured my heart.

I bought my first property here in 2004, in an area that at that time was called Palermo Viejo, but now is affectionately known as Palermo Soho. In those days, Palermo Soho was mainly a red light district at night time, so was not considered a desirable place to live. There was about 30 restaurants in the area back then, most family run parrillas - nowadays there are over 200, from Argentine to the full gamut of international cuisine. Some of the best shops and restaurants are now located here.

When I bought that first property, I found the system archaic and very confusing, getting ten different answers regarding foreigners buying properties in Argentina. It was a very frustrating process to go through. Over the years I have simplified this search for others, by building up a tremendous team of professionals who make buying property in Argentina a stress-free decision.

Argentina for me doesn´t just offer real estate, it offers a whole way of life forgotten in most parts of Europe and the United States - Argentine families spend a lot time together, Sundays are completely sacred here, and friendships are never rushed, with two hour coffee conversations being the norm.
