I had the apartment listed first with another large agency and they basically just took the listing and sat on it - I don’t think they showed it even once. Pericles did 100x the work of the previous agent and must have showed it at least 30 times to people.
As for the tax, there are recurring rumors of it but I have yet to hear of someone charged it - so it may well not be true. When this subject came up a few months ago, no one spoke up that they had been charged it. Until we hear from someone who was charged it, I think we have to assume its not true. I didnt get charged it, but I have temporary residency if that makes any difference.. .

It is rare for me to give an unqualified endorsement for someone, but I give one without hesitation for Pericles James. There are other property consultants in Buenos Aires , though I cannot believe any of them would do a better job than Pericles. He very rapidly understood what style and amenities we desired, and did not waste our time with properties that did not fit our criteria. He helped us apply for our CDI, set up real estate appointments, provided written and verbal interpretation services, introduced us to excellent escribano and banking contacts, and even bought us a few drinks. He would quickly caution us if he felt a property was over priced or in a “dicey” area. On several occasions he steered us away from flats he felt were not a good match for us, even though it meant losing a much larger paycheck for him.
Pericles earned his commission just from the savings we received using his banking contacts. It was icing on the cake when he negotiated a sizable reduction from the asking price on the flat we purchased in Montserrat . Call him…you’ll be glad you did.
